WATER
SMART SWITCH INSTALLATION
Disconnect
voltage source.
Route
and secure all wires as
high as possible above
the water level.
Connect
and crimp the switch
positive (+) red wire to
the positive (+) source.
Connect
the pump negative (-)
black wire to the
negative (-) source.
Connect
the positive (+) brown
wire from switch to
positive (+) wire of
pump.
Use
heat shrink wire
connectors included, or
wires will corrode and
your warranty will be
voided.
Use
heat source to shrink
wire connectors until
adhesive inside melts
and flows out the ends.
Re-connect
the voltage source.
Be
sure that the bottom of
the switch is aligned
high enough above the
pump impeller (1"
minimum) for proper turn
on and turn off.
The
distance above the pump
impeller depends on the
individual bilge size.
For
Maximum Efficiency of
the eight (8) second
delay the switch should
be placed high enough so
that when, the switch
detects water, pump
turns on and continues
to pump water until the
eight (8) seconds
elapse, at this time the
water should be
eliminated at the same
time the pump turns
off.
If
the Water Smart Switch
is installed too low the
proper dead span (or
amount of distance
between on & off
will not be achieved.
The pump will continue
to run sucking air until
the eight seconds
elapse.
REMEMBER: The
pump will continue to run for 9
seconds after the switch no
longer detects water.
WIRING To
prevent corroded wire
connections, be sure to use
adhesive filled heat shrink wire
connections to seal all
connections.
Locate wire connections above
the highest possible water
level. Be sure to use the
appropriate wire size from
battery source recommended by
pump manufacturer.
TROUBLESHOOTING
INFORMATION NO
WATER PUMPED
Make
sure wire connections
are not corroded.
Visual
check is not enough -- a
slight pull on each wire
will tell if the wires
are still joined.
Check
to be sure no wire is
hanging down in the
water.
BLOWN
FUSE
Check
fuse to see that it is
the correct size.
DO
NOT exceed amp rating of
pump or switch.
If
fuse size is correct and
fuse still blows, check
impeller to be sure it
is not jammed or full of
debris.
PUMP
WON'T SHUT OFF
Make
sure that face of
sensing area is clean of
soap or soap products.
Clean white case with
water followed with WD40.
If
the pump is sucking air
and the switch has not
reached the off
position, then the
switch may be mounted
too low for the pump and
should be reinstalled
1/2" higher. Make
sure that the bottom of
switch is higher than
the top of the pump
impeller.
